Paros Pattern Design Collection - Inspiration

Excited to share my first pattern design collection which was inspired by my travels to the beautiful island of Paros, Greece - I feel very grateful to have visited a few times through out the years. An island with crystal clear waters, impressive landscapes and villages.

Drawing inspiration from the seaside villages, my love for the Greek ocean along with shapes, colours, textures, details of its architecture.

This collection features hand drawn, organic, playful, free-flowing shapes and elements - embracing the spirit of the European Summer feel of relaxation and exploration.

My design process for the Pattern Design Collection:
I started by looking back at my photos taken while I had visited the beautiful island and from there started pulling out design elements / shapes from the doors, windows, landscapes - that I was drawn to and wanted to draw/paint, then by putting the moodboard together as well as the colours.

I then by hand started experimenting and using a mix of mediums from colouring pencils, watercolour pencils, markers, pens, ink and acrylic paint to create the artwork.

A process I loved, experimenting and getting lost for hours exploring different mediums bringing me back memories of how I loved drawing as a child as well as fine arts course days.

Once I had created the artwork scanned into computer, cleaned them up, created the designs and then arranged, played with compositions, layouts to create them as pattern designs.

Sharing some of the illustration motifs below.

Once I finished the patterns / print designs I placed the designs on mock-ups so a brand can see how they will look on different products from womens, mens, kids clothing, bags, accessories, towels, sarongs along outdoor lifestyle products such as beach umbrellas and chairs.

I share below some snippets of 2 of the pattern designs available inside my Paros Collection.

The Thalassa Pattern Design
These drawings created in a playful fun design with colouring pencils in organic, textured strokes - some of the illustration elements featured are the fish, shapes, boats, water. This design was brought into Photoshop, to clean and to create the layout, composition and then a repeat pattern design.

The Seaside Pattern Design
This design I created with markers, scanned it, then in Illustrator to edit and complete it. Some of the illustration elements featured are boats, fish, sun and the sea or coming together in a abstract, striking pattern - the more you look at it, you discover more hidden elements to it! This can be screen-printed or digitally printed.

Are the designs available as non-exclusive or exclusive license?
My pattern and print placement designs from my collections currently are available to be licensed EXCLUSIVELY to a brand in a category area and the rights to use forever.

*For example: If a swimwear brand wants to license a design - I will therefore not license it to another swimwear brand. However, another brand in a different category such as homeware - bedding area will be able to license the same design.

Can the designs from the collections be customised?
Yes, if you like a design and you want me to make changes such as scale, colour changes - prior to purchasing you can send me an email at hello@effieanadesign.com to discuss further.
