Why your Logo should be simple?

The challenge of a Brand Designer, which I thrive on to communicate your unique message in a simplified way - choosing the right design elements, to create your logo that has meaning behind it, custom for your business.

There is a misconception if something looks simple, it must be easy as there is less detail. Which is not the case, making something simplistic can be a lot harder.

“Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple.” Steve Jobs

Simple will be more memorable

When a logo is complex, it will be harder to be remembered. People view things quickly and in those quick couple of seconds your brand has far more chance of it being remembered when its simpler, amongst the online busy world we live in.

Simple logos have fewer details therefore easier to be remembered.

Simple will be scalable at any size

Your logo needs to be scaled at any size and still work!

Simplistic logos have the capability to be enlarged or scaled down and still look great.

A complex logo when scaled down looses the detail and therefore being visible.

Simplistic logos can easily be used in various mediums from: Web, packaging design, labels, tissue paper design, promotional/marketing material, stamps, print material, social media embroidery etc.

Whereas a Logo having too many elements/details/complexities, will give you less flexibility and cannot be easily modified in order to be used across different things for your business.

Tip: When you are getting your logo done by a designer - I recommend you test, your various logos (such as your Sub mark/Icon Logo) how it will be viewed at a small scale, can you see all the detail? If you cannot, it means it’s busy and needs to be stripped back furthers so it’s simpler.

Communicate your message with less

You want your message to be clear, instantly understood and direct to your potential customer.

By keeping your design simple, it helps to quickly understand your message in few quick seconds when people view it.

Simple design will communicate your message with ease, it’s more clear and direct.

Complex design causes overwhelm and confusion - when you are trying to say it all!

Every detail of the design should have a meaning behind it

Every design element matters  - from the font chosen, colours, shapes, basic design elements come together evoke emotion, your message, tone and tell your story.

Stripping back the unnecessary to basics and use only what is necessary to communicate your message through simplistic design.

Less is more to communicate your message with meaningful design that has been carefully thought out that is simplistic will remain more memorable and timeless.

Hope this Blog has helped you.
